What does +QT mean?
QT stands for “Quenched and Tempered” after heat treatment. During the heat treatment the 1.7225 is heated to austenitising temperature and then rapidly cooled.
The material is then tempered to achieve the desired properties. Tempering produces a fine-grained and homogeneous microstructure, high strength and high toughness. This is how the specific 1.7225+QT is produced.

What does “drawn / ground in h8 without machining allowance” mean?
Unlike conventional round material with added allowance, these round steel bars are already precisely drawn and ground to the final dimensions required by ISO tolerance class h8. This ensures very tight tolerances and further improves the surface finish.
For ground round steel, the ISO tolerance class describes specific quality characteristics and tolerances. ISO h8 is a shaft tolerance standard:
- The ‘h’ denotes the basic tolerance (always below the nominal dimension).
- The number ‘8’ indicates the tolerance grade (IT tolerance grade, International Tolerance).
This means that these round bars can be used directly for precise fits – without prior turning or grinding.
